The National Archives of Pakistan is the reservoir of the non-current records of the Government of Pakistan.These are the draft pages of the holding and finding AIDS of the National Archives of Pakistan for the use of scholars and administrators.
Information of National Archives of Pakistan is derived from numerous sources, including the various editions of the pakistan Year Book and Economic Survey of Pakistan.
The department of National Archives is member of the international council on archives and its regional branch called South and West Asian Regional Branch of the International Council of Archives of Pakistan (SWARBICA).
National Archivesn of Pakistan is maintaining a Quaid-i-Azam Museum for the convenient of visitors to view the Quaid-e-Azam related items online for example Jinnah's Pen, Passport etc.
visitors can also visit Museum from Monday to Saturday at 9AM to 3MP. National Archives of Pakistan is also preparing a documentary film related to different aspects of life of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. In which the Early life of Quaid-i-Azam has shown,Quaid as a Lawyer, as a Statesman, as a Governor General , Role in Pakistan Movement ...and also his Death.So this documentary almost covers the complete history of Quaid-i-Azam.
The directorate of Archives and Libraries was established in 1951, as sub-ordinate office of the Ministry of Education. The department was bifurcated on 8th December 1973, which gave birth to two separate departments, namely, National Archives of Pakistan and National Library. In 1977, the subject of archives was allotted to newly created Culture Division. Later, on 9th January 1997 the National Archives of Pakistan was attached to the Cabinet Division.
The National Archives Building comprising 1, 50,000 sq. ft, covered area is located in administrative block area of Islamabad .The building was constructed in two phases.In 1st phase the administrative block was completed in 1988. In 2nd phase storage area was completed & occupied in 1995.
The Mission of NAP is to preserve public and private record having it’s bearing on the history, culture and heritage of Pakistan and to make them available to the researchers on demand and pass on to the posterity. NAP intends to develop itself as an institution of excellence to provide information, documents, manuscripts and source material to scholars, writers and administrators to help evolution of evidence based governance in Pakistan.
