Our History:
The auspicious day of 18th October, 1986, is a landmark in the history of Jhang. On this very day, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Khan Junejo came to Jhang and announced the establishment of a public school on the forceful demand of the then MNA, Nawab Amanullah Khan Sial and masses and then again the former Prime Minister Mian M. Nawaz Sharif confirmed this announcement when he arrived in Jhang in October, 1988 as the Punjab Chief Minister. It was on January 5, 1989 when Jhang Educational Trust was set up and was registered under voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance, 1961 on 16th June, 1991. District Administration came off with flying colours in getting the approval for setting up a public school. On 18th November, 1989, the District Administration, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, asked the public for generous financial assistance for Chenab College Jhang. This demanding task continued under the favourable auspices of the administration and with a noble intention of self-help as a result of which the Juniors Wing of Chenab College came into being under the headship of Mr Zaheer Kazim Siddiqui, who raised the status of the school by working day in and day out in the course of his two-years contract. On 12th April, 1993, the college was shifted to its present campus where Mr Muhammad Iqbal Tariq assumed the reins of the college after being retired from the well-known public institution, Abbotabad Public School and College. He promoted the college to an exalted status within a span of only five years making use of his 33-year boarding-schools experience. On 10th August, 1998, Ms Mah-i-Nau Bukhari took over the charge as Principal. She served the college for 9 months and resigned on 27th July, 1998 on account of her domestic problems. On 4th December, 2000, Mr. Daud A. Khan assumed the reins of the College as principal. During this nine year-span, the College made tremendous headway in every respect. On academic side, it has become our traditions to win laurels by securing positions in Matric and Intermediate Exams under The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Faisalabad. The introduction of O, level Class is a big achievement highly appreciated by parents in which our students made mark and brought the college on par with the best English medium institutions in Pakistan.
